About Minister In Training Program

The aim of the MIT Program is to begin a process of education focusing on understanding the Christian faith and its implications for human life. The vocation of Christian ministry is to interpret and represent the Christian faith and to explore ways by which faith can be embodied in the lives of people, churches, and society. The MIT program believes that it is important to develop the total minister not only inside the walls of the building but also in the lives of the people we serve. The courses in the curriculum give a broad understanding of ministry through traditions, origins, and backgrounds of the church; a reflection of the social and moral issues in the contemporary church; and consideration of occasions of worship, counseling, and education. The minister is a theologian, and therefore the program is designed to prepare men and women for the practice of ministry.

Program Information

The Ministers In Training program is a three-year program that operates on the hybrid model. All courses operate on the MIT academic calendar beginning in August and concluding in May. Further, courses take place on Monday evenings according to the academic calendar from 6:00 pm-8:30 pm, central standard time.

Program Track

  • LICENSURE TRACK

The licensure track is for students that have expressed a call to the proclamation ministry and are therefore pursuing a license to preach the gospel. Upon completion of the program and satisfying all requirements, a ministerial license is issued upon successful completion of the MIT program. To attain a Ministerial License from Mt. Zion Baptist Church, the student must be a local member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, desiring to be invested in the clergy within Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
